3 Different Types of Visa Requirements for Hong Kong:

1. Countries which a pre-arrival visa is required

2. Countries which have at least 7-day visa-free period

3. Holders of specific documents: he/she will not need a visa to enter Hong Kong

 

1. Countries which a Pre-arrival Visa is Required:

 

Afghanistan, Albania (holders of Albanian non-biometric passports), Angola, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Burundi, Belarus, Costa Rican, Cuba, Cameroon, Cambodia, Cote D'ivoir, Congo,  Eritrea, Ethiopia, Georgia, Ghana, Guinea-Bissau,  Iraq,  Iran, Korea (Democratic People's Republic Of), Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Laos,  Liberia,  Libya, Moldova, Myanmar, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Nepal, Palestine, Pakistan, Panama, Peru, Serbia (holders of Serbian non-biometric passports or Serbian passports issued by the Coordination Directorate in Belgrade), Sri Lanka, Senegal, Solomon Islands, South Sudan, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Togo, Tonga, Tuvalu (with national status stated as 'I-TUVALU'), Tajikistan, Turkmenistan,  Uzbekistan, Uruguay, Vatican, Vietnam, All 'Stateless' Travel Document Holders

 

2. Countries which have at least 7-Day Visa-free Period:

 

Countries not mentioned above are allowed to enter and stay in Hong Kong for at least 7 days with visa free policy. Please confirm the exact duration of visa-free stay by contacting the embassy of the your own country or by visiting http://www.immd.gov.hk/en/services/hk-visas/visit-transit/visit-visa-entry-permit.html.

 

3. Holders of specific documents

 

If you hold ANY of the following travel documents, no visa will be required.

• British National (Overseas) Passport

• Hong Kong Re-entry permit (for entry from the Mainland of China and the Macau Special Administrative Region only)

• Hong Kong Document of Identity for Visa Purposes provided that the document is valid or the holder's limit of stay in Hong Kong has not expired.

• Hong Kong Seaman's Identity Book

• Travel documents bearing one of the following endorsements:

  • Holder's eligibility for Hong Kong permanent identity card verified

  • The holder of this travel document has the right to land in Hong Kong. (Section 2AAA, Immigration Ordinance, Cap. 115, Laws of Hong Kong)
